We mainly produce two types of coated pipe: pe coated pipe and abs coated pipe.

You need to know what type of plastic the pipe is coated in and how it was constructed before you buy it. This comprehensive article explains the differences between two main polymers that are used to cover pipes in different material handling systems.

These are the criteria to choose the right pipe coating:

Are they environmentally friendly?

This is what we consider the most important. It is important to be able to recycle old pipes in a world that is committed to the environment.

What makes it resist to heat and cold?

Depending on the industry you work in, it may be necessary to transport structures between facilities or keep them outside. Material handling systems are used by some users to dry their structures in the oven. Some plastics work better for this purpose than others.

Is it available in a variety of colors?

Different materials can have different color schemes. At first glance, it doesn’t seem like much. Some industries use color coding because it is crucial to maintain color accuracy. You may find it detrimental to use a different plastic than the one used in your industry.

Is it strong and dense?

It is important that you only use plastics in extreme conditions if your industry relies on them. The pipe coating is resistant to marks and scratches, which adds aesthetic value and usability.

HDPE

HDPE (formerly high-density plasticethylene) is a thermoplastic that’s made from petroleum. This material, also known as polyethylene, has many properties that make it an excellent candidate for covering pipes made of metal. This thermoplastic can be used in a variety of industries. HDPE is used in our industry as a coating on pipes, surfaces, containers, side panels and separators. Flexpipe uses HDPE to coat pipes and other surface applications.

Highlights

It is an eco-friendly material that can be easily recycled and does not need to be glued.

It has a high strength-to-density ratio making it extremely durable.

Large and accurate color selection available

Excellent resistance to heat, cold and both.

ABS

Acrylonitrile-butadiene styrene (also known as ABS) is a thermoplastic plastic made from styrene and acrylonitrile. Because of its versatility, this polymer is used by many industries. In recent years, this plastic has been criticised for using less sustainable manufacturing methods. This plastic is still very popular due to its low cost.

Highlights

ABS must be frequently glued to metal pipes, making it unrecyclable.

It is very durable due to its high strength-to-density ratio.

Wide color range available.

Very resistant to cold and heat.
